Landing Page or Sales Page? Which does your website need?

As a web designer, I find there is a lot of confusion about Landing Pages versus Sales Pages. Which one do you need? Why do you need either of them?

You need both!

Both connect with your ideal client in different ways:

The Landing Page serves as an introduction to your service and the business altogether, this is important for those who prefer gathering more info and getting an idea of the business itself while making a decision.

The Sales Page is specifically informative about a service or product with a clear action step to get a result. These are usually longer with repetitive messaging for the skimmers in a hurry. This page will place frequent calls to action, so they don’t have to scroll the whole page once they are sold on your services or product.

How to use the pages on your website:

Here is what I recommend:

  • Use your Landing Page as the Home Page. I think this is the most natural position for it and useful to most client experience website strategies.

  • Use the Sales Page as your service page (use the Sales Page format for all of your service pages). It is already going to be super informative and should guide your ideal clients to connect or purchase from you. This is also an excellent page to sell a course or program!

Ultimately this decision is best made between you and your designer and what will best serve your ideal client.
